How weird is it that the first time I actually got around to writing a real blog post was one year to the day since I opened this blog?
I blame K........well, a little bit of it is my fault, but mostly I blame K.

Dumbo, in the basement
My girls like to watch movies. They don't get to watch too many movies, because we really don't have time and because we believe that kids shouldn't spend excessive amounts of time in front of the television.
For my girls though, they really view the ability to watch a movie as a special event. They can't just ask to watch a movie, turn it on, sit down and watch it. No, no, no. There is much more to it than that.
First, one of them will ask the other if they would like to watch a movie, but they will say it with such excitement. Like they're asking if you would like to have a piece of chocolate cake for dinner kind of excitement.
Then, they go through the elaborate process of chosing just which movie they should watch. They consider movies on VHS, DVD, BlueRay, and Netflix streaming all the same, so they actually have A LOT of movies to chose from. But it's the WAY they chose their movie that is so elaborate. One of them will pick out five possible candidates while the other sits with their eyes closed, waiting. Then the other girls will open her eyes and pick one of the five to watch. They tell me it's because that the only real way to make it fair.
Then they need to chose which room to watch the movie, the living room, the computer/game room, or the guest bedroom in the basement.
Once the movie and location have been determined, then they must set up the viewing area for their toys. All of their stuffed animals and dolls also love watching movies, so which ever group of toys that they are currently playing with get the opportunity to "go to the movie theater." On weekdays that usually consists of about six stuffed animals between the two of them. But on the weekends, it means about 20 toys EACH. They lug all of these toys to the viewing area of their choice, and then proceed to arrange each one for the best viewing angle.
After all the toys are arranged, they they must gather blankets and pillows, so they can be comfortable too.
Only then can they start to watch their movie. Tonight's before bed movie and location -- Dumbo, in the basement :)
